Carlos Antonio Borja Letona

THE INTERVIEW

What does coffee mean to you and your country?

It is part of our family culture since my childhood and we continue to enjoy it daily. For my country, it has been an important source of income, employment, foreign exchange and environmental sustainability.

What is your favorite place in your country?

The Boquerón, is the crater of the volcano of San Salvador from where you can see much of the capital city, whose last eruption was in 1917.

What is your history with illycaffè?

Our story began 10 years ago in the name of quality.  In the last 3 years it has been our business partner Unex El Salvador who has given La Concordia the opportunity to work with illy.

How does the perfect coffee grow?

La Concordia is located in an area with exceptional agroecological and microclimatic characteristics to produce a perfect coffee, with altitude between 1350 – 1600 meters above sea level, temperature between 19°C – 23°C, loam-sandy texture soil, undulating topography, shade of ingas, conifers and native species.

How do you drink coffee?

We prepare American coffee, we consume it without sugar, soft with good aroma and flavor, enjoying it along the entire day. With my brothers we grew upon a coffee farm called Palermo.
