THE INTERVIEW

What does coffee mean to you and your country?

Much more than a drink, coffee is part of Brazilian culture. I know the importance of coffee for our city, region and country. I remember as a child the adults gathered in the kitchen for coffee at various times of the day. I remember the coffee at school, at the office, at the bakery. There are many Brazilian workers involved in different coffee sectors and companies. Hence the national passion.

What is your favorite place in your country?

The city where I currently live, close to the farm where I work. Due to the beautiful mountains, mild and pleasant climate, a lot of contact with nature, it is for me one of the most beautiful regions in Brazil.

What is your history with illycaffè?

Fazenda Mantissa was a finalist in the 15th to 20th edition of the Ernesto Illy Sustainable Quality in Coffee Award, and in the 17th edition it reached third place. illycaffè, as a great partner of the farm, helped through conversations, materials and, of course, the awards, to value and understand the importance of a job well done attentive to nature, valuing the working team and contributing with local producers, resulting in an amazing and delicious coffee.

How do you get the perfect coffee?

A lot of research, a lot of dedication, care for nature and above all, love for what you do.

How do you drink coffee?

My preference is brewed coffee, with the Hario V60 preparation method.
